Bereavement Camp Good Grief

There is no right or wrong way for a child or an adult to grieve. Grief is an individual process and a natural part of life. After a loss, life is not the same, however experiencing grief allow children to adjust to life after loss. Often feelings are at odds with one another: profound sadness, relief, guilt, anger, love and heartache. These feelings are natural and, although often painful, they are the mechanisms everyone needs in order to cope and eventually be at peace with loss. We are here to help.

The Zinberg Family Bereavement Center

The Zinberg Family Bereavement Center’s Mission is to offer a safe place for children to begin to put words to what they are feeling and a place for adults to process their grief while learning how best to assist their children.

When tragedy claims the life of a loved one, families usually need help finding a way to heal. The Zinberg Family Bereavement Center provides nurturing support for grieving children, teens, young adults and their families. The only ongoing grief support group program on the East End that focuses on children and families, the Center is funded through generous donations. We are open to all families in our community regardless of whether a family member was in Hospice care. There is no fee for services provided.

  • The Zinberg Family Bereavement Center focuses on:
  • Individual Bereavement Counseling for Children and Teens
  • Ongoing Children and Teen Bereavement Groups
  • Parent/Guardian Bereavement Groups

Age-specific grief support groups serve children ages 4 to 17 and their parent or guardian. Children are supported through developmentally appropriate activities including art, play and journaling. Adults attend their own support groups, where they learn how to help children and teens process grief and cope with loss.

We also lead support groups on school campuses, provide educational workshops for the community, and conduct comprehensive training for grief support facilitation.
